Darko Angeleski is the Managing Partner and Head Instructor of Bar Academy Bulgaria, and one of the leading voices in the development of modern bartending in the region. His professional path began in pastry arts and evolved into a lifelong dedication to hospitality education, craftsmanship, and community building. Since entering the world of bartending in 2001 at the International Cocktail School in Skopje, Darko has continuously worked at the intersection of practice and education. From behind the bar to the classroom, his focus has always been on shaping professionals who understand not only technique, but culture, responsibility, and the guest experience. By 2003, he had already taken on the role of instructor, marking the beginning of his long-term impact on bartender education. In 2005, Darko co-founded the Macedonian Bartenders Association and served as its President until 2020, helping define professional standards and creating platforms for growth, exchange, and recognition. His vision later expanded into building institutions and spaces that embody these values — from Bar and Barista Academies in North Macedonia to iconic cocktail destinations in Skopje such as The Cocktail Room and The Speakeasy Bar. As a consultant, his influence has extended to hospitality projects across the country, including the opening of the Marriott Hotel Skopje. Beyond operations, Darko has played a key role in shaping bartender education through global brands. As a brand ambassador for Campari, he led the Embrace the Bitterness training series, and as a mentor in the Johnnie Walker At Home program, he focused on transferring knowledge beyond the bar, connecting professionals and consumers through storytelling and experience. In 2017, Darko brought his vision to Sofia with the launch of 5L Speakeasy Bar, and later that year became Managing Partner and Co-owner of Bar Academy Bulgaria. Darko’s vision is to build a connected, educated, and forward-thinking bar community — one where knowledge is openly shared, collaboration replaces competition, and diverse perspectives drive the profession forward. Through education, mentorship, and leadership by example, he strives to elevate hospitality beyond technique, shaping bartenders as cultural ambassadors and creators of meaningful experiences.
